Boxtyp "F" 1969 - 70

Boxtyp "F" 1969 - 70

The last box used for the original 1-75 series, the "F" box introduced in 1969. The most prominent change is the blue recktangle in the upper right corner showing the model's number.

F1 1969

The first "F" boxes had the word "Series" in the blue box below the model number, on two models ( 39 and 56 ) the box was smaller and "Series" was printed in red below the box - still a "F1" box, this is the norm with these two models.

F2 1969

F2 1969

The most common "F" box is the "F2" version, the word "Series" is now printed in red below the O & X of the "MATCHBOX" logo. The blue box only shows the number. The footer below the models pictures says "A Lesney Product".

Every model with an F box is either an F1 OR a F2 - with one exception: the number 6D Ford Pick-up exist with both F1 and F2 boxtypes.

There are three more minor sub-types for the "F" boxes, identical to the "F2" boxes but with slightly changed "legal" wording in the footer below the model picture. Most collectors don't really care.

F6 1969

This very interesting boxtyp only exist because in the summer of '69 they thought Lesney might offer the very same model with Regular Wheels as well as an Superfast version of it. The "Superfast" version was ment to be just a feature like the "Auto Steer" function already offered on a few selected models. To be able to sell both versions in the same box they had to modify the existing "F" box by removing the "Auto Steer" Symbol ( as the box might come with an Superfast model and hence no such function ) but could also not print "Superfast" on it in case it contains an Regular Wheel model!

Only three such hybrid boxes exist: 15D, 33C and 50C. On the cars the blue sides were showing the old Regular Wheel drawing on one side and the Superfast drawing on the other side!
