USA Giftsets 1980-82
During the last two Lesney years the USA had it's own series of Giftsets with completely different themes then those available in the rest of the world. Many of those sets included models from the "US Specials" series making these sets sought after anywhere else in the world.

A scarce set only available in 1983 in the USA: A "Instand Winner Game" Double set containing an Dodge Daytone in dark metallic red with open hood & Dodge Caravan in black. Both models still Made in England. The card contains an ( still unused! ) rub field with an winning code ( sorry, the game ended December 31st 1984 ). You could have won an real Dodge Daytona! An very interesting Giftset named "Truckin' Speed Trap" from 1982, based on the "Smokie and the Bandit" movie. Contains two Convoy trucks ( Midnight Express and Redcap box trucks ) and an black Trans Am & Police Car. The black Midnight Express truck has some chrome loss at th front, all other vehicles are mint. Only availabe in the US in 1981-82. Excellent box with intact cellophane. Hard to find US "NASA" giftset from 1982, contains 2 x Convoys ( both truck's in the rare 1st issue with "Nasa" to roof and full front decoration ), 1 x with "NASA" rocket and 1 x with Space Shuttle as load. The version with the Space Shuttle was only available in this giftset. Set was only availble in the USA in 1982. All models are still Made in England. Mint models in excellent+ complete box, blister is fully intact. |
